Brock DeBoer subverts our expectations of everyday objects by recreating them in porcelain. His sculptures blur the boundary between what is disposable and what is precious, transforming familiar objects, such as sneakers, into permanent ceramic forms.
This tension between appearance and reality is central to his process. Objects we know and are familiar with reveal themselves, on closer inspection, to be handcrafted in porcelain. Brock’s work asks us to reconsider the objects we overlook every day, showing us that significance lies in how we see the objects that surround us.
