Anyone familiar with EDiT knows we are all about pink. From the diverse range of artwork we showcase to our experimental approach to framing, we’re committed to creativity in every step of the process. Whether it’s the hand-finishing of artist Jayson Lilley or a bold splash of neon in the fillets of an ornate gold frame, pink is woven throughout the work we do and the gallery ethos.

It seemed only natural for us to take a closer look at the colour we love so much, reflecting on its place in the works of the artists we collaborate with and its broader significance in contemporary art and society. PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY marks our very first group exhibition, curated to both challenge and celebrate the traditional stereotypes of pink. We aim to showcase it as a bold, dynamic symbol that reflects the pulse of modern contemporary art and life.

SOFTNESS & SCiENCE.

Pink has long been associated with softness and femininity. We will both celebrate and challenge this association, along with the implied connection between softness and gender. By working with artists of all genders, disciplines and backgrounds, we want to demonstrate that pink is a versatile tool that can be embraced by everyone, carrying a wealth of meanings beyond its traditional associations.

Pink is not found in the rainbow colour spectrum, but is a mixture of different hues - primarily red and violet light. Artist Frankie Boyle explores the scientific qualities of pink in her SPECTRUM (PiNK) - light, by diving into the intersection of colour psychology and human behaviour. Frankie’s SPECTRUM (PiNK) will be on show at PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY.

PiNK iN THE GALLERY.

In the wake of Barbiecore, pink is more popular than ever. At EDiT. we work with artists who use pink unapologetically, whether it be to embrace nostalgic charm, explore femininity, delve into scientific principles, or inject vitality and modernity to their work.

Pink is also a prominent symbol in the urban art movement, representing energy and rebellion. Pink is more than just a colour, it sparks conversation as we interrogate its multitude of meanings. PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY showcases the work of artists who are both playful and intentional in their exploration of pink’s full potential.

The exhibition will feature a wide array of mediums, including light installations, perspex wall pieces, limited editions, drawings, and screen prints and originals. The works will range from strikingly abstract to hyper-realistic, showcasing the work of a diverse group of artists who each draw on their own experiences to explore the colour pink in its many interpretations.

Here at EDiT. we challenge narrow conventions. PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY will encourage audiences to engage with and re-examine their own interpretations of the colour pink. With work of all mediums and by artists from a range of backgrounds, PiNK iS FOR EVERYONE redefines the concept of pink through light, texture, and form.

PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY RUNS UNTiL 5PM ON THE 20TH JULY AT EDiT. GREENWiCH OR YOU CAN SHOP THE WORKS BELOW :)
