TECH GALLERY ASSiSTANT.
OVERViEW.
EDiT. is looking for a reliable and detail oriented Gallery Technician to join our team on a self employed basis starting at 6-8 days a month with a possibility for the role to grow. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the day to day operations of the gallery. The ideal applicant will be flexible and have weekend and evening availability.
THE ROLE.
Your role as Tech Gallery Assistant will be a mixture of gallery maintenance and rehangs, setting up for art fairs, delivering artworks and independently hanging artworks in our customers homes alongside the related admin. Specific roles include but are not limited to:
- Framing reports and framing goods in.
- Delivery of artworks to customers homes.
- Installation of artworks in customers homes.
- Assisting with a monthly installation and deinstallation of artworks in the gallery and as part of our regular exhibition programme.
- Transport artworks between the gallery and off-site storage facilities.
- Set up and maintain the gallery space for exhibitions and events.
- Collaborate with the rest of the gallery team to ensure a seamless experience for clients, artists and visitors.
- Assist with general gallery operations, including inventory management and equipment upkeep.
- Sales ability (although not strictly a sales role you may be required to assist the sales team during busy periods of the year)
- Art fairs
HOURS: 4-6 days a month. Flexibility is essential as weekend and occasional evening work will be required. Our standard working day is 9.45am - 5.30pm with a 30 min lunch break.
PLACE OF WORK: EDiT. 2 Greenwich Market, London, SE10.
PAY: £100 per day.
THE PERSON:
The successful candidate will have excellent tech experience and confidence independently installing artworks. Despite being a technical role, this job is also a customer facing position so you need to be comfortable being in customers homes and building relationships that benefit the gallery. The following qualities are a must:
- 1 - 2 years experience in a similar tech job required.
- Confident using power tools
- Valid drivers license
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Flexibility regarding hours, particularly during exhibition changes and events (you will be informed ahead of time).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Great communication skills and a professional, courteous demeanor.
- Knowledge and interest in art - have a good eye as may be required to advise customers in a hang.
- Attention to detail
- Strong administrative skills
